Countdown: 16 dage til afgang! //
Hi everyone :)
Now there's only
Countdown: 16 days to departure!
Todays contents: Today was spent by sleeping in, 'hygge' (I'm going to introduce you to this Danish word now, it means "cozy" if you look in the dictionary, but means so much more, you can own some "hyggelige" jeans, have a "hyggelig" garden and so on. 'Hygge' is more like "ejnoying life to the fullest" or something) with Moffe (morfar) and a trip to "Himmelbjerget", which isn't really a mountain despite the name (heaven-moutain), or at least the playground you were able to drive all the way to ;-). Other than that we collapsed at home and Dad grilled chiken for dinner. :)
Marcus og morfar spiller stangtennis // Marcus and morfar playing tetherball
De små "hænger Simon til tørre" // the small ones are putting Simon in the sky
Far mod de tre yngste klan-medlemmer :) // Dad against the three smallest members of the clan :)
On our way home, we just had to stop and get a icecream in Vebbestrup for 2 $ (Simon had to pay 2.80 though) ;)
Sidenote: Inuitten havde næste 100 forskellige ord for sne, men intet ord for leder.

----------------------------- //
You can't say I have done something about:
Preperations: - but still, I got my high School Diploma today (a longer update + pictures are availible in danish only; here :)) in the mail today - oh joy! So now I am able to start copying them to my financial aid aplications and no longer has a valid excuse not to do the boooring work. But that's not going to be today, since I am going to 'hygge' with my computer, unpack, maybe do a little re-packing, invite people to goodbye-party and just reas, read, READ! Which brings us to:
Todays Book-Geek: I started reading "Gone with the Groom" which is one of those book I got for a dollar last time I ordered books from Christianbooks.com (they have a lot of non-religious books too :)). It's actually number 2 in a series (of cause I only reallized this after I ordered the books), but they dosn't need each other to be understandable, which is good. A really fun read about a mother who help her two daugther plan their weedings, two weeks before one of the girls weddings the groom goes MIA - not soo great! So the Mom, who is taking a break from her crime-solving job starts searching for her daugther groom. Nomaly I prefer books where I am able to identify myself with the maincarakter (if the daugther had tld the story instead of the mother for instance), but this is a good book so I don't really mind :)
Todays Canada Fact: People say that the first people got to Canada between 20.000 and 40.000 years ago, they were Inuits (I think that's who we would call either eskimos or Greenlanders today) and they walked from Siberia. They developed a survival-tactic which still surprises the archaeologists, there whole everyday was spent on surviving. They sat by holes in the ice with a spear and waited for fish to pass by so they ´could get some food, half-digested food from the raindeers stomach was a treat and was enjoyed together with fish, blubber and meat - almost always raw to get most nutrition. When there wasn't anymore food left the family moved, normally on sledges made by frozen hides or frozen fish, which could be eaten while they travelled.
Sidenote: The Inuites had almost a hundred different words for "snow" but no word for "leader". The leadership was shared in the group.
There you got some Canadian-history in the price :)
